I finished college this year and I looked on my TimeHop and saw how scared I was to start, so I thought I'd put a few things together that I wish I'd knew then.
1. Making Friends May Take Time.
I kind of expected to make a good group of friends within the first term and be really content. Really I stuck with people I already knew and it took me a while to get on and make friend. I did in the end but I think it does take time and it doesn't matter if you don't straight away.
2. The Work Load Is Hard But You'll Be Fine.
I got a bit of a shock in the first term because the essays were longer and there were so many new techniques and content to learn. It gets much easier and I think A Levels make you more able to learn things fast. It's only a two year course so everything happens really fast and sometimes it gets overwhelming but if you take it all at your own pace you'll be fine!!
3. It's Ok To Be Lazy.
I know when I started I wanted to be so productive all the time and I had meal plans, plans for my frees and a plan to get up at 6 everyday. It's ok to slack off sometimes. I think in first year I put too much pressure on myself to do well constantly and never slack off but this wasn't realistic and I just wore myself down. It's ok to have a lie in on a morning free and it's ok to use your frees to have a coffee and relax. A Levels are hard and it's completely fine to just have your lazy moments in order to recharge.
4. It's Ok To Dress Down.
I know the idea of not having a uniform really freaked me out because I felt really judged wearing my own things. I know in first year I put so much effort into what I was wearing, which sometimes would make me late but I think it's easy to get over this. Early mornings make everyone tired and no one really cares if you come in with your joggers on and a comfy hoody, to be honest most people will probably wish they wore that. Just wear what you want and dont add too much pressure to yourself.
Hope this helped and good luck with college!!

This is genuinely so useful! I'm starting college next week and I keep seeing everyone talking about how hard the workload is and that you've got to being working non-stop, so the lazy tip was sort of a nice relief.

This is such a great post, I wish there were more posts like this last year when I started college it could've helped a lot. Definitely need to give myself more breaks this year, I burnt myself out last year xx
